Yana Biryukova is a video artist and theatre designer based in New York City. Her theatrical designs include collaborations with Hartford Stage, Resident Ensemble Players, Barrington Stage Company, American Mime Theatre, Mason Holdings, Miami New Drama, Bristol Riverside Theatre, The Other Shore, Westport Country Playhouse, Red Bull Theater, The Working Theater, Dutch Kills, Yale University, Yale Repertory Theatre, Yale Opera, Yale Cabaret, Irish Repertory Theatre and many more. Associate credits include Cadillac Crew (Yale Repertory Theatre); Eddie & Dave (Atlantic Theater Company); Candide (Carnegie Hall); Harry Potter and The Cursed Child (Broadway); Charlie and The Chocolate Factory US Tour; Crowns (McCarter Theatre Center). In addition to theatre design Yana has worked on films and installations, including Palimpsest: Tales Spun from Sea and Memories at the Venice Biennale 2022, Promise Land at Yale University, Alphabet City at Yale Art Gallery, Not Just Me at Catskill Art Society, Meraki at Harvestworks among others. She is a finalist of the Robert L.B. Tobin Director-Designer showcase for Opera America. The recipient of the Connecticut Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Achievement in Projection, Yana has lectured and taught workshops on projection design at Harvard, Yale and Colgate universities.
